Accessing Brown University

  • RISD and Brown Students

Brown and RISD students are deemed to be fully vaccinated and can access, as appropriate and allowed, facilities and programs on both campuses with their Brown or RISD identification card and without further documentation or proof of vaccination.

Access to facilities and programs on both campuses will be subject to all other policies and protocols as determined by each institution (e.g., access to dining facilities limited to students enrolled in meal plans).

To learn how testing positive or being a close contact will affect Brown access, please visit Positive Cases and Contact Tracing.

  • RISD Faculty and staff

RISD faculty and staff seeking access to Brown facilities and programs will be subject to Brown’s COVID-19 vaccination requirements for visitors and guests and will, where required by that policy and the agreement between Brown and RISD, complete a vaccination attestation form in advance of accessing Brown facilities and programs. RISD faculty and staff seeking access to Brown facilities and programs will generally fall into two categories under the visitor and guest policy:

    Short-term visitors
Short-term visitors are defined as those who are on the Brown campus for four full days or more over the course of a month or more. These visitors are required to sign a Brown University vaccination attestation form. RISD faculty and staff seeking access to the Brown University Library (request a library card via the link) or the Brown University Athletic and Recreation Facilities and Programs will be considered short-term visitors under the visitor and guest policy regardless of the number of times they access those facilities and will be required to complete a vaccination attestation form prior to the first visit. RISD faculty and staff who are not fully vaccinated (14 days past their final dose) will not be permitted access to the Brown University Library or the Brown University Athletic and Recreation Facilities and Programs.

    Limited-duration visitors
Limited-duration visitors are defined as those who are on the Brown campus for three days per month or less. Limited-duration visitors are not required to sign a vaccination form; they must abide by the Brown University COVID-19 Campus Safety Policy and any requirements specific to the facility or program they are visiting (e.g., health care or medical research settings with indoor mask requirements). These visitors must wear a mask if they are unvaccinated. Limited-duration visits include attending a single meeting, lecture, performance, conference, event or athletic competition.
