Summer Access Requirements
Over Summer 2021, RISD campus is open for designated staff and faculty with continued access from Spring 2021 and for students with prior authorization. They must participate in surveillance testing and abide by RISD’s safety protocols in order to maintain access.
We look forward to welcoming students, faculty and staff back to campus under the Near Normal scenario for Fall semester.
Summer Campus Access
Eligibility for access to campus remains restrictive over the summer, but we anticipate opening up to Near Normal conditions towards the end of the summer once the community reaches 80 percent immunity. Only eligible persons who participate in surveillance testing will retain access to campus facilities.
- STUDENTS: Only students with prior authorization
- FACULTY: Only faculty teaching a spring or fall course or on sabbatical
- STAFF: Only designated staff, including mail-pickup designees
Employee Special Access Requests
RISD employees not eligible for regular access to campus may request one-time access or a long-term change to their access by submitting the RISD Campus Access Form 72 hours in advance of when they need to be on campus.
Requests will be approved by the Testing and Vaccination Team in coordination with supervisors or department heads/deans. Employees may be asked to provide a negative test result (through surveillance testing or from an outside source (must upload via secure link) with 72 hours of access.
Summer Surveillance Testing
All designated on-campus employees are required to complete surveillance testing weekly. Students, staff and faculty with less-frequent on campus duties or activities are required to complete surveillance testing every other week.
Appointments are required—no walk up testing available. Failure to complete surveillance testing when notified, followed by failure to complete a make-up test the following week, will result in ID cards being deactivated.
External Test Results
Employees may upload external test results via a secure Dropbox link.
