To practice physical distancing, the CDC recommends that individuals stay at least six feet (about two arms’ length) from other people, do not gather in groups, stay out of crowded places, and avoid mass gatherings.
RISD Employees should plan to hold meetings using existing videoconferencing technology wherever possible, and use physical meeting spaces that allow for social distancing where videoconferencing is not possible.
RISD will support social distancing by putting into place extensive social distancing protocol including space configuration, visual cues and signage, and management of egress and flow patterns. Learn more.
Cleaning and Disinfecting
Facilities will continue to engage in the cleaning and disinfecting protocols established in Spring 2020 for RISD spaces, and employees are encouraged to support these efforts by maintaining clean personal workspaces by wiping down work areas and following other department-specific protocols. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
All employees are expected to support RISD’s efforts to promote the use of face masks and perform social distancing. Employees are empowered to respectfully and professionally speak out and correct other employees who violate these policies. Employees who encounter RISD visitors in violation of these policies are encouraged to respectfully remind our visitors of these policies, and should contact Public Safety if visitors refuse to wear masks or practice social distancing after reminders. RISD Employees should practice and encourage safe hygiene such as handwashing, cleaning personal workspaces, and cleaning common use equipment such as shared printers. RISD will continue to post updated personal hygiene practices based on CDC Guidance.
